YouTube to Discard the Dislike Counts on all Videos

YouTube finally decides to remove the dislike counts on all videos. Videos on YouTube will no longer show public dislike counts. However, the dislike button will not be removed completely and will be available for users to customize their recommendations.

Initially, YouTube started off by experimenting with this option by removing the dislike feature to see whether it affected the dislike counts or not. The platform plans to remove the public dislike counts to reduce harassment.

Though the dislike button remains on the videos, but the amount of clicks it receives will remain private. YouTube claims that the dislike counts have no measurable impact on a user’s decision to watch a video.
