YouTube emerges to be on number 1 Position in terms of Consumer Spend
As per findings of the report on worldwide app spend in Q1 2021, YouTube has emerged to be in the number one position in terms of consumer spending. It has left behind TikTok and Tinder in the race to become the market leader in in-app purchases.
A 40% year over year increase compared to last year was observed in in-app spending, which highly signifies how the pandemic has changed the entire situation. But the big question arises what are people spending on a video platform? A few ways how people spend money through YouTube in-app purchases include :
YouTube Premium - A monthly subscription to do away with all the ads appearing in between videos and other exclusive features.
Membership to Channel - Subscription to a specific channel
Super Chat - Pay to highlight chat messages during a creator's live stream.
Super Sticker - Pay to highlight use sticker's during a creator's live stream.
A rise in these in-app purchases is a clear indicator that people are loving them and are willingly agreeing to pay for their subscription.
Besides, Youtube viewership is risen to 6x times as compared to other streaming apps. Mobile video streaming has also increased by 40% in 2020 compared to 2019.
