Twitter Testing New DM Control Options

Twitter is in the process of testing new DM control options with an attempt to combat message spam. The new option will provide users with more control over who can message them in the app.

These controls would be provided only to Twitter Blue subscribers.

In addition, it is also looking to implement a new restriction that would stop non-paying users from sending messages to people who don’t follow them.

With subscribers able to choose who can DM them, it could be an effective way to stop DM spammers pretty much entirely for those that have had enough of their junk.

• In addition to less spam, it will also limit the messaging volume, which will ultimately see a decline.
