Popular Sites including Zomato, Paytm, Amazon faces Major Internet Outage

Recently, a massive outage with Akamai took a majority of the Internet down. The issue started to take place at around 9 pm on Thursday.

In response to the outage, Akamai added that it is actively investigating the case. Within five mins, around 3000 users were not able to access the Zomato platform.

Many popular sites were affected by this outage, including PSN, Steam, Disney+ Hotstar, Zee5, SonyLIV, Zomato, Amazon, and Paytm. A few NDTV sites were also affected by the outage. After the sudden outage occurred, Akamai promised an update within 30 minutes.

Lately, it was found that the cause of the outage was a change in setting done by one of its customers. A huge part of the overall internet infrastructure is represented by Akamai at this point and a small change in setting can lead to a global outage can be concluded.
