Meta introduces new Legal effort targeting Phishing Scammers

Meta is all set to launch a new legal procedure with the new federal lawsuit in California, against phishing scammers.

These scammers have been conducting attacks by tricking users into sharing their login credentials via fake login pages for Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp.

The phishing scheme was responsible for creating more than 39,000 websites citing login pages of Facebook, Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp.

Meta adds that Meta the group used a relay service to redirect web traffic to their phishing websites ‘in a way that obscured their attack infrastructure’.

This in turn helped them identify the true location of the phishing websites.

Meta's move in this direction will play a key role in deterrence.
