Facebook releases new updates related to the Rights Protection Tools

Facebook is working towards updating its Rights Protection tools helping businesses to crackdown any unapproved use of their intellectual property rights across its apps. It will also update its Commerce and Ads IP tool.

With the new update:

• Brands can upload images of their licensed products

• Can highlight any usage violations in Page posts, Marketplace listings etc

• Businesses are required to register their trademark certificates and credentials with Facebook for utilizing the tool to detect matches based on legal ownership

• There will be more consistent tracking and alerts with the new update, enabling IP owners to detect potential violations of their licensed products better

Additionally, Facebook is also expanding the search capacity of the tools beyond paid ads allowing brands to search and report Instagram accounts and posts that they think may be infringing on their rights.

Further, the platform is also adding a new dashboard of total IP actions that will include the status of their IP reports and historical activity.
